Data, Statistics & Research
The Center for Regional Studies (CRS) department of the Nevada Small Business Development Center manages datasets from a variety of sources and is able to help a business select a location for operations, understand current market trends, and predict where the local economy is headed. Some of the data services we offer are demographic and traffic analyses, data on employment and local firms, residential construction and proposed commercial development information, and custom market analyses.
The Nevada State Demographer's office is funded by the Nevada Department of Taxation and is responsible for conducting annual population estimates for Nevada's counties, cities, and towns. The office also estimates Nevada's county populations by age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin. Population projections are produced on an annual basis. We also work in conjunction with the Nevada Data Center and other entities in disseminating census and other data.
The Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) performs applied research projects for business, non-profit agencies and government entities. They may be:
- Original studies, where we gather and analyze new data
- Secondary studies, where we search for existing studies and data.
All types of entities come to us for information needed to make important decisions about their future. They also use us to find the expert decision-makers they could not identify by themselves. Typical research subjects include:
- Economic and fiscal impact analyses
- Surveys of customer perceptions and needs
- Surveys of public perception or image
- Assessments of facilities and programs (private or public)
- Assessments of human resource needs
- Evaluation of new product viability
- Studies in economic development and strategic planning
- Design of systems for collecting and analyzing data
